This beautiful home, in the Historic District of Langhorne, PA, is a perfect example of late nineteenth century Victorian Architecture. The homeowner's challenge was to enlarge the small existing kitchen and add a family room. The back of the house became the obvious choice for expansion and the kitchen space, both old and new, bridged the old portion of the house with the new family room addition.

The homeowners chose a combination of lightly toned cherry wood cabinets and contrasting birch cabinets with a claret stain. Two islands, at two different heights divide the work space from the main traffic corridor. One island houses the sink and dishwasher, the other, angled to follow the flow of the space, houses the ovens. Lighted shallow depth taller cabinets in the traffic corridor against the back staircase provide both storage and ambient lighting for grandmother's beautiful china.
