This project began with a comment I hear quite often. "We bought the land, not the house." Today, this house, located on the top of a hill in Wrightstown Twp. Fits beautifully into it's surroundings. The challenge presented to me when we started this project was to blend the old sections of the house with their small rooms and low ceilings with the new sections of the house and their large rooms and vaulted ceilings. We looked carefully at the way the house was going to be used after the renovations and how that use would affect proposed traffic patterns. This step is often overlooked by many designers but crucial to the ultimate success of the project.

We started by removing the wall between the dining room and the kitchen opening these areas to each other and to the new sections of the house. The stone wall fireplace situated in the old eating area of the kitchen then became a wonderful spot for casual seating, dining or just enjoying the view. Entrance patterns were redirected to the new family room leaving the area off the kitchen to function as a butler's pantry, staging area to the patio and study area. The dual height granite countertops in the kitchen island are great for entertaining but also make meal preparation and clean-up chores a breeze.
